Because of the above song getting stuck in my head, I’ve been thinking a bit recently about the concept Malcolm Gladwell brought up in his book Outliers, that excellence comes only with practice, specifically ten thousand hours of practice. The applied form of this assertion suggests that you should either start practicing the heck out of what you want to get good at, or even better, think about what you’ve already put 10,000 hours into practicing and play off of that experience. I’m also approaching my ten thousandth day alive, so I guess I’m pretty good at getting through a day by now!
